This is one bad ass looking heavy horsehide jacket that has been somewhat transformed. When I go the jacket it had no zipper, but undoubtedly had the large Talon main zipper up the front. I had a large YKK zipper installed that is like the large Talon zipper and I've taken off the gold NYPD buttons on the pockets and epaulets so that the jacket takes on a more biker look. No gold buttons for me pally.....The buttons are removable and reattach with a key pin on the back side, I will ship the buttons with the jacket. The jacket collar has also been trimmed shorter so that you can stand it up like a cafe racer collar or leave it lying flat it just looks better withut the large batwing collar. The jacket still has it's badge grommets above the left chest pocket and I'd recommend putting a cool harley or some king of vintage moto oriented patch over them, since one will not be wearing a badge. You can't help but like the jacket it has two inside lapel pockets one with a pen holder ( see photos) along with he date of manufactue written inside the pen pocket as 30861 which is either the 30th day of Aug 1961 or the 3rd month and 8th day of 1961. Either way this is an old NYPD as the buttons say and if you look up Miklos Sas the maker you will see they did the manufacture of the NYPD jackets back then. You can also see the stitch marks from the NYPD shoulder path on the right shoulder s well. This being horsehide, well made and actually quite rare I can't let it go too cheap, but being it has been altered a bit ( but better in my book) I'll let it go at a reasonable price. Any way you slice it , it is a good deal. You couldn't have this jacket made for less than $800 today for sure...jacket measures as follows sleeves: 23 1/2" inches shoulders 19" inches , armpit to armpit outside 22" inches inside 21" thus a size 42 . length down back from collar seam to hem is 24".
